Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your hearts,
with fasting, with weeping, and with sorrow;
tear your hearts
and not your clothing.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is merciful and compassionate,
very patient, full of faithful love,
and ready to forgive.
“Tear your hearts,” is so poetic. A repentant heart feels no awareness of what people might think only the feeling of freedom; of release of the heavy drains that has so long kept a heart in darkness. Tear your hearts sheds the outer, hardened shell and makes a soul more alive in the love and joy of Jesus.
Return, O’ Soul, to the Lord.
He misses you.
