The Sound of Music

In watching, The Princess Diaries, I am thinking once again of another iconic favorite, The Sound of Music. Julie Andrews was in The Princess Diaries movies so it makes sense that I suddenly feel like buying The Sound of Music again. S.M. looks up to Heaven in sheer, amused boredom.

It’s a girl movie, he often says. I don’t correct him. It’s also a musical, and musicals aren’t his favorite either.

“Who breaks out in song in real life?” S.M. says just before he goes to work.

I kiss him goodbye and close the door. What did I love about The Sound of Music?

The romance, the searching of the nun for a meaningful life, the impossible situation with the Nazi’s, and it’s a classic Cinderella story–poor, nun helps wealthy Austrian man raise his seven children.

So what do I do?

I order it.

S.M. will be so thrilled.

I giggle in the morning silence.

I prefer private conversation. You are more than welcome to email me in lieu of a comment or contact me via social media.
