Zip It

Campaigning is not just something politicians do; it’s a term used when someone tries to stir up a crowd to their way of thinking by asking their opinion on something that is personal or highly controversial. It’s disguised under a smile, a confidential conversation, or tears.

I’ve encountered this a lot. Because I’ve encountered it, I keep a mirror on myself so I can be sure I don’t campaign on an issue that is best left to rest.

Like things that trend…if you don’t want it to trend or don’t want people to be inspired to go a certain way, stop talking about it on social media. The campaigner needs to zip it. Let the matter rest. Let it sink into oblivion so people can do more productive things in their lives.

If you truly believe in the future of something, help build it up, not tear it down. That goes politically, too.
